Gasification is a technology that heats up biomass until it decomposes to syngas. Gasification is similar to pyrolysis, liquefaction, reforming, and other processes that break down carbon materials into syngas using heat.

Syngas is a mixture of gases that can be used to synthesize synthetic fuels and other products, such as electricity, hydrogen, and chemicals.

WeNeW will initially focus on producing transportation fuels, such as diesel and gasoline, because they will have the greatest impact on economics and the climate.

Extra hydrogen (H2) from water electrolysis can be added to the syngas to make more fuel.
